Description
Hardneck garlic grows in northern regions with harsh winters. Garlic bulbs have between eight to twenty segments, called cloves. The skins on the cloves are thick and easy to peel.
Flavour
When eaten raw, garlic has a powerful, pungent flavor. When cooked or sauteed the flavour mellows.
Roasted garlic has a nutty, mild taste.
Common Uses
They can be used raw or cooked. One large clove can be enough to flavour an entire dish.
Roasting or baking the bulbs will bring out the natural sugars, creating a caramelized effect.
